TRINITY CHURCH

Trinity Baptist Church, London 2017

48” x 18” (122cm x 46cm)

This panel was commissioned to celebrate the life of Basil Pilgrim, a much loved and respected Scout Leader and Elder of this Church who died in 2009 at the age of 92. Created in his memory as an aid to contemplation within a side prayer chapel, the panel reflects his enduring love of the English countryside seen through the woodcut imagery of trees and animals. Also included are references to scout leading, to maps and to the distant hills of his favourite rambling destinations of Shropshire and Herefordshire.  The colour green represents renewal and growth reflecting both his love of rural England and his commitment to the Church.

The official opening of this window was accompanied by an eloquent service of remembrance and a moving concert performed by the Single Reeds Orchestra conducted by Janet Eggledon.
