The Miners

The Miners, 2017
The Miners were created in response to a television documentary on the last deep coal pit to close in Yorkshire in 2015. Drawings were made from this programme and archive photos from miners in eastern Europe. In addition, a chance meeting with a retired miner in Sedgefield, County Durham resulted in several pen and ink studies. This material has been used to create etchings, woodcuts, 3D models and glass panels.
